A new study shows great results from self massage using a foam roller. Foam rollers are cylindrically shaped plastic foam. Daily foam roller exercises help a patient improve the alignment of the neck for pain relief. It is also used a a method of self massage to iron out knots and muscle soreness.
Foam rolling is a type of self-myofascial release; releasing tight muscles, connective tissue (fascia) and trigger points (sensitive points on muscles) with self-massage. Using a foam roller applies pressure to specific areas for pain relief.
