What do you get when you pair apples and dark chocolate?

Double the cancer preventing antioxidants!

Make this easy recipe (kid friendly) for a special Halloween (and any other time) treat. We like to use naturally sweetened chocolate chips, such as Lily’s Premium Baking Chips Dark Chocolate. You will need:

  • 8 firm, tart apples (such as Braeburn or Empire)
  • 8 sticks (washed) small enough to insert into the apple, sturdy enough to hold it.
  • 2 cups dark-chocolate baking discs or chips
  • Nuts, granola and/or sea salt (optional)
  • Wax or Parchment paper

Directions: Take out the apple stems and firmly insert the sticks into the top of the apples. Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in a glass bowl. (You can use a double boiler). When the chocolate has melted, hold each apple by the stick and dip it into the chocolate, rotating it to evenly cover the surface. You may then roll it or sprinkle it with toppings of choice. Place the apples face down on parchment paper, refrigerate until cool.
